I've traveled to Geneva, Switzerland every summer for the last six years or so. There is a certain feel that takes over my body once the plane lands and my adventures are set to begin; I wish I could truly articulate what it's like.
I speak very little French and I know the simple words which allow me to not seem as foreign, as I more than likely appear, when standing quietly observing others merely say hello. The one key thing that I've learned along my travels is this, one does not need to speak in order to listen, learn, or understand.
On this particular day, I was afforded the chance to visit a side of Geneva which I didn't even know existed. Perhaps it's the fact that I carry my camera everywhere with me these days and my friends know that I want to see something new, something different.
As we stood on one of the highest points in the city and observed everything taking place around us, I found myself fixated on a couple who were seemingly in love; I only write seemingly because he's a man and there is always that chance he's attempting to make amends (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt).
The thought of being a creepy camera guy has never crossed my mind, well I mean yes, it has, and I have indeed taken random pictures of people who I thought were "interesting" but I have never been out in the open attempting to capture a moment like the one seen below.
I found a small rock to sit on and I started firing away hoping that I would find something special once I recalled the image. Alas, why shoot if not for capturing a moment, a feeling?
I'd continue to write but I've ventured away from the very thing which I said was key, so I'll leave you to figure out the ending to this story (wink).
Love of mine, someday you will die But I'll be close behind and I'll follow you into the dark No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight, waiting for the hint of a spark
If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied And illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark
