Savor The Moment

I've been capturing images, from behind a camera, for close to ten years now, I think. The first cameras I purchased were used for a trip I took to Peru; if not mistaken the price was close to $1,000 dollars for one and $250 dollars for the other, and I definitely wasn't making enough money to splurge on cameras

Over the course of time, I've snapped probably close to seventy thousand pictures; I wish I could say these were all captured by making only a minimal investment but truth be told money and time have definitely been used. I'm failing to mention the concentration, creativity, and patience it takes to capture moments as they're taking place

Years ago, I thought my work was good, to be fair, I thought it was better than good and I asked the opinion of someone who had "experience", to critique some of my photography. Anytime someone starts by saying, "You're feelings aren't going to get hurt, right..." prepare for feelings to get something

I stood before this gentleman as he had nothing constructive to say about the few photographs presented to him. The suggestions he had for me, I ran with and I've continued to use because they're the pieces of kindling which keep my spirit lit, when behind the camera. The thoughts I have now, are how can my photos tell a story if I'm not adding any words to them. Perhaps I'm simply attempting to have you the viewer, SAVOR THE MOMENT

During a recent trip to Europe, I was introduced to a quasi nephew of mine. During my last trip to Europe, he wasn't born yet and we were all anticipating his arrival. When the door opened and the family came bouncing into the flat, I was the new addition to the familiar faces he was accustomed to and we all braced for him to be shy

Maybe I'm the kid whisperer or maybe kids can simply see the kid I still am, either way, this little guy didn't miss a beat or think twice about me being in the room. The day was filled with smiles, a long walk for ice cream, and of course a "I'm too tired to walk look"

I've captured many moments of goodness over the years but I'm unsure if any of the captures had anything to do with food. By all means, the moment will be savored.
